I do not get to travel to Portland, Oregon, as often as I like. But when I do, I often savor the eclectic coffee houses and bakeries in its NW district. Fortunately, a few weeks ago, I was fortunate to have a fun chat with my friend Scott Haines. He is a Databricks Beacon, an awesome engineer at Nike, and a fantastic person in general! Even though his meetings were in Beaverton, I convinced him to come over to one of my favorite districts in Portland: the Northwest District.
In addition to enjoying the general vibe of the district, it holds one of my favorite French bakeries – St. Honoré Bakery (the following is a picture from their NW Thurman location).

They always have a great selection of breads, pastries, and sandwiches. My wife and I love this place so much that I carried an extra bag with Tupperware specifically to carry them back to our home in Seattle!.

Here’s a small selection, including blueberry lemon Danish (top), tart abricot armande (almond apricot tart, left), and my new favorite – grapefruit pistachio tart (right).

And to finish things off, a quick stop just a couple blocks away at my new old favorite – the Dragonfly Coffee House. While new to me, the coffee house has been around since 2005 and is one that I will frequent when I pop on down.
Enjoy!
